Monday, 20 July 2026 | {HMC} According to The New York Times, citing a U.S. official, dozens of American soldiers were injured and several helicopters were damaged during Iranian attacks on a U.S. military base in Jordan last week.
The newspaper, quoting military sources, reported that three similar attacks had occurred before Iran’s strike on Friday, in which three U.S. service members were killed.
A U.S. military official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that U.S. Central Command is not required to publicly disclose information about injured personnel if they are able to return to duty quickly.
Another senior U.S. military official told The New York Times:
“Why would the U.S. Department of Defense release information that could help Iran more accurately target its objectives and carry out deadly drone attacks against Jordan and other U.S. bases in the Middle East, where thousands of American troops are stationed?”
According to U.S. Central Command, more than 400 American service members have been injured so far in the conflict involving Iran.
Meanwhile, in a statement, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) expressed its “gratitude” to the “people of Jordan” for providing what it described as “accurate information about 20 defensive positions occupied by U.S. forces.”
