Tuesday 21 July 2026 {HMC} Turkey’s Parliament has approved a two-year extension of the deployment of Turkish troops in Somalia, extending their mission until July 2029, following a request submitted by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The extension also expands the scope of the Turkish military mission, allowing forces to operate across both land and maritime domains in Somalia.
The number of foreign troops operating in the country continues to increase each year, despite no visible signs of significant progress or change on the ground.
