Friday, 31 July 2026 {HMC}Â May Allah grant him Jannah. According to Huba-Nuura, renowned Somali poet and singer Ahmed Ali Igal, a celebrated member of the Waaberi troupe, has passed away in the United States.
Ahmed had reportedly been battling an illness in recent months. His death was also confirmed by several Somali poets and musicians who spoke to the BBC, offering their condolences to his family and the Somali arts community.
The late Ahmed Ali Igal was among the young artists who rose to prominence during the flourishing era of Somalia’s cultural and artistic revolution.
He had reportedly planned to attend Puntland’s annual anniversary celebrations, held every August, but was unable to do so due to his illness.
