Xawaadle Clan Chief and Political Delegation Receive Warm Welcome in Beledweyne.

Monday, 14 Sep 2026 {HMC} Ugaas Yusuf Ugaas Hassan, the traditional chief of the Xawaadle clan, along with a delegation of politicians from both houses of the Somali Parliament, arrived in Beledweyne on Monday after departing Mogadishu. They received a warm welcome from officials of Hirshabelle State and large crowds of residents.

The delegation was welcomed at Beledweyne Airport by the Hiiraan Regional Governor and several Hirshabelle officials from the Xawaadle clan. Security was tightened across the city, while videos circulating on social media showed armed personnel and military vehicles deployed in parts of Beledweyne.

Hiiraan Regional Governor Mohamed Hussein Arab said the regional administration was ready to contribute to the consultations and efforts that the clan’s leaders and elders had come to Beledweyne to undertake.

Speaking to the media in Beledweyne, Ugaas Yusuf Ugaas Hassan said their visit was part of an effort by the Xawaadle clan to discuss the current situation. He called for unity in the clan’s consultations and decision-making.

“We want the Xawaadle to consult. We will consult collectively, make decisions together, and take joint action. The steps we take will be different from those we took in the past,” the Ugaas said.

He also urged members of the clan to prepare for decisions that may emerge from the consultations, saying that everyone with the ability, financial resources, or skills should contribute.

“Today, we want to implement the decision we reach, and those who can implement it are you, the people. Be prepared,” Ugaas Yusuf said.

Meanwhile, Hirshabelle Vice President Yusuf Ahmed Hagar (Dabageed), who also addressed the gathering, said the people of Hiiraan have grievances against the Federal Government of Somalia. However, he stressed that the objective was not to reject the government but to seek the rights that the region and its people are entitled to within the federal system.

“The Hirshabelle flag is our flag. We do not want chaos. We have grievances against the Federal Government and the Hirshabelle administration, of which we are part,” Dabageed said.

He added that they were ready for dialogue on issues requiring consultation, saying that the Ugaas and other clan leaders would discuss these matters with the community.

Ali Shacbaan, the First Deputy Speaker of the Upper House of the Somali Parliament, said the delegation had travelled to Beledweyne to facilitate broad consultations among the Xawaadle community on the current political and social situation.
