Friday, 4, Sep 2026 {HMC} — A new report by the United Nations has identified Bosaso, a city in Somalia’s Puntland region, as one of the transit points allegedly used by networks supporting Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The UN Independent International Fact-Finding Mission for Sudan said it had found reasonable grounds to believe that private entities, logistics intermediaries, and recruiters operating in countries including the United Arab Emirates and Colombia had used transit locations in Bosaso, Chad, and southeastern Libya.
According to the report, these networks facilitated the transfer of personnel, military training, weapons, and logistical support to the RSF.
The United Nations also said it had documented up to 2,000 former Colombian military personnel who were reportedly working with RSF units and using drones, artillery, and advanced weaponry.
The report further noted that the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) had also used foreign-supplied drones in operations that resulted in harm to civilians.
The UN mission called for investigations into individuals and entities that order, finance, supply, or otherwise facilitate international crimes being committed in Sudan.
The Puntland administration has not yet officially responded to the allegations or the UN report.
