Friday, 28, August 2026 {HMC} Somali National Army forces are undergoing training at a military camp in Waajid District, Bakool Region, in Somalia’s South West State.
The troops are expected to join ongoing military operations in areas under the administration once they complete their training.
Somali National Army officers visited the camp, inspected the training facilities and military equipment, and received briefings from the instructors training the soldiers.
The Federal Government of Somalia is preparing the Somali National Army to assume greater responsibility for the country’s security as the African Union has announced plans to gradually hand over security responsibilities to Somali forces.
Somalia’s President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, earlier this month welcomed back troops who had completed training in Xananbuure, Galgaduud Region, in Galmudug State.
