Sunday 12 July 2026 {HMC}Â The Somali National Army (SNA), in coordination with international partners, carried out a series of precision airstrikes targeting positions occupied by Al-Shabaab militants in the areas of Cadow Jilib, Gayfo, and Qordheere in the Middle Shabelle region.
The airstrikes killed 26 Al-Shabaab militants. In addition, a military vehicle and a fuel tanker used by the group to support its operations and carry out terrorist activities were destroyed.
These operations are part of the Somali National Army’s ongoing efforts to pursue Al-Shabaab leaders and fighters, while degrading the group’s ability to organize and execute terrorist attacks.
The Ministry of Defence expresses its appreciation to Somalia’s international partners for their continued support in the fight against terrorism and the elimination of extremist threats.
The Ministry of Defence and the Somali National Army Command reaffirm their commitment to continuing operations targeting Al-Shabaab leaders and militants until the threat they pose to the Somali people is completely eliminated.
