Saturday 13 June 2026 {HMC} Â Increasing reports and allegations indicate that the Puntland administration has handed over to the Ethiopian government Somali youths suspected of having links to the ONLF organization, which has recently resumed political organizing and activities.
According to various sources, these youths, the number of whom has not been officially confirmed, were arrested in various areas including Bosaso, and were later transferred to Ethiopia.
Some reports add that the arrested youths were among the workers working in gold mining areas.
Meanwhile, the Somali Regional Government of Ethiopia (SRG) has denied the allegations related to ONLF, and said that these youths were illegal immigrants who were in areas of Puntland, especially Bosaso, who were returned to their families and parents.
Puntland insiders say that if the new allegations are true, they will revive sad memories of the transfer of Somali citizens under the security cooperation between Somalia and Ethiopia.
The Puntland administration has not yet commented in detail on the allegations that the youths were allegedly handed over to the Ethiopian government.
These allegations come just days after a high-ranking delegation from the Ethiopian government visited areas of Puntland, the official purpose of their visit being unknown.
