Mogadishu, July 04, 2026 {HMC} The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, His Excellency Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, today received in his office the Somali woman, Nadiya Mohamed, Mayor of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, United States, who recently arrived in the country.
President Hassan Sheikh commended Chairperson Nadiya for her achievements and outstanding role in leading and participating in politics in her country, noting that such achievements reflect the ability, dedication and effective role of the Somali community in global development.
The President urged Chairperson Nadiya to focus on strengthening the traditional relations between Somalia and the United States and enhancing the role of the diaspora in rebuilding the country, developing social services and boosting investment,
For her part, the Mayor of St. At St. Louis Park, Ms. Nadia Mohamed thanked the President for the warm welcome, and reiterated her commitment to strengthening relations, promoting cooperation, and supporting development efforts in Somalia, noting that she was surprised by the security and progress in the country’s capital, Mogadishu.
