Sunday 14 June 2026 {HMC} The Danab Commandos of the Somali National Army carried out an operation targeting Al Shabaab militants in Kurtunwaarey district in the Lower Shabelle region.
The operation targeted locations where leaders and militants of the Al-Shabaab Khawarij were located. During the operation, 14 Al Shabaab militants were killed.
The forces also destroyed a cache of weapons, explosives and other materials that the Khawarij used to prepare and carry out terrorist acts against the Somali people.
This operation is part of the ongoing efforts of the Somali National Army to eliminate the Khawarij, who are known for suppressing the people, looting their property and committing insecurity in the country’s regions.
The Ministry of Defense and the Somali National Army Command are committed to continuing operations to ensure security, stability, and peace in the country.
