Syrian President Rejects Saudi Request to Send Troops to Yemen to Fight the Houthis.

Friday 18 Sep 2026 {HMC} Syria’s President Ahmed al-Sharaa has rejected a Saudi request to send Syrian forces to Yemen to fight the Houthis, according to reports by Türkiye Today.

Syrian sources said Damascus declined the request, citing its focus on reorganising its own military and its unwillingness to become a third party in the conflict.

Pakistan, Türkiye and the United States have so far avoided direct involvement in the war against the Houthis. Pakistan has said it would support Saudi Arabia “practically and diplomatically” if the conflict escalates, while the United States has ruled out a direct military role in Yemen at present.
