Monday 21 Sep 2026 {HMC} Somalia’s Defense Minister Meets TURKSOM Commander and Turkish Military Delegation
Somalia’s Minister of Defense, Ahmed Macallin Fiqi, received a delegation of Turkish military officers at his office, led by the Commander of the TURKSOM Military Training School, Major General Sabahattin Kalkan.
The delegation included Captain Dr. Haldun S. Çetinarslan, the Turkish Military and Naval Affairs Attaché, who is concluding his assignment in Somalia, and Colonel Dr. Mehmet Serhan Yıldız, the newly appointed Turkish Air Force Attaché.
The meeting focused on strengthening defense cooperation between Somalia and Türkiye, particularly in the areas of training and enhancing the capabilities of the Somali National Army.
Minister Fiqi praised the role of the TURKSOM training school in developing the skills and capabilities of Somali forces and thanked the Government of Türkiye for its continued support of Somalia’s efforts to rebuild its armed forces and strengthen national security and stability.
