Saturday, 5 July 2025 {HMC} More details are emerging about a heavy battle that has lasted for several hours and is still ongoing in areas between the districts of Moqokori and Aadan Yabaal, located in the Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle regions. The fighting is between the Ma’awisley community fighters, supported by Somali government forces, and Al-Shabaab.
Reports indicate that the fighting is currently taking place in villages near the Mabaax area in the Hiiraan region, located along the border shared by Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle.
The battle, which started at dawn this morning, has continued to intensify as both sides received heavy military reinforcements.
The allied forces managed to seize several areas during the fighting, including Gumare, Xagare, and Ceel Qooxle, all of which are located in the Hiiraan region.
An officer from the Ma’awisley forces, identified as Ahmed Jimcaale, told local media that they inflicted heavy losses on Al-Shabaab fighters who had been carrying out movements in areas under Moqokori district in recent days.
“The bodies of the Khawarij are scattered across the battlefield. The fighting we started this morning is still ongoing, and gunfire is now continuing near Ceel Qooxle. Their death toll has exceeded 30, while on our side there are 5 deaths. The battle will continue until we reach Aadan Yabaal,” said Ahmed Jimcaale.
However, today’s battle in the Hiiraan region is being described as one of the strongest clashes witnessed in the area in recent times.
