Economic challenges, particularly youth unemployment, continue to dominate public policy discussions in Puntland, where pressure is mounting to create sustainable job opportunities for a rapidly growing young population.
In remarks addressing the issue, PDP spokesperson Deeq Hassan Mohamed (D. Darajo) described young people as the most valuable resource for Puntland’s future development. He emphasized that investment in education, vocational training, and entrepreneurship is essential for long-term economic growth.
He warned that rising unemployment poses not only an economic challenge but also a potential social stability risk. According to Mr. Hassan Mohamed Deeq, economic inclusion is critical to preventing frustration among young people and fostering productive civic engagement.
The Puntland Democratic Party, through its economic desk and represented by Deeq Darajo (Mohamed Hassan), confirmed that policy frameworks are being developed to support small and medium-sized enterprises, youth-led innovation, and private sector expansion.
