Sunday 9 Aug 2026 {HMC} Russia and Syria today concluded 18-month talks on Russia’s presence in Syria, with the deal providing for the transfer of the long-held Russian port of Tartus and the Hmeimim airbase to the Syrian government.
Russia’s military bases in Syria are to be converted into joint Russian and Syrian military bases, with Russia turning the bases into training centers to boost the capabilities of the Syrian army.
