Wednesday, 5 August 2026 {HMC} The US government today lifted sanctions on Iraqi airline Fly Baghdad Airlines and two of its Boeing 737 aircraft.
The airline was added to the sanctions list in January 2024 after it was accused of providing support to the Quds Force of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, including transporting weapons and fighters to Syria and Lebanon to support Iranian-backed groups such as Hezbollah.
The US Treasury Department, which announced the decision, said in a press release that the move was a technical administrative decision and did not constitute a change in US policy toward Iran or the Revolutionary Guard Corps.
