Saturday, 18 July 2026 (HMC) – The Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation of the Federal Government of Somalia is closely monitoring activities related to the incitement of conflict, the provocation of communities, and the organization of actions that threaten security and social cohesion in areas of the Lower Shabelle Region.
The Ministry expresses its deep concern over activities aimed at fueling tensions among local communities that have lived together for many years and share strong social ties, cultural traditions, and common interests. Any actions that could lead to division, hatred, or conflict within society pose a serious threat to peace, social unity, and the country’s reconciliation process.
The Ministry strongly warns individuals, groups, and any parties involved in spreading hate speech, misinformation, organizing conflicts, or engaging in any activities that could further escalate the situation.
The Ministry also warns that terrorist groups and other destabilizing actors may attempt to exploit any vulnerable situation to advance agendas that threaten lives, property, national security, social stability, and state institutions.
In accordance with the Constitution and the laws of the country, the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation of the Federal Government of Somalia instructs the security agencies and law enforcement authorities to strengthen preventive measures, closely monitor the situation, and take legal action against anyone found to be involved in inciting conflict, provoking the public, or engaging in any act that undermines security, social cohesion, and public order.
Finally, the Ministry calls upon government authorities at all levels, traditional elders, religious scholars, women, youth, civil society organizations, and the broader Somali community to take a leading role in easing tensions, promoting dialogue, and strengthening mutual understanding among communities.
