Friday, 12 June 2026 {HMC}Â The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held important meetings in Jowhar, the capital of Hirshabelle State, with security officials and traditional leaders from the region.
The discussions focused on strengthening security and enhancing cooperation between local communities and security agencies.
President Hassan Sheikh received briefings from commanders of the Somali National Armed Forces operating in Hirshabelle on the progress made in the fight against Al-Shabaab militants and ongoing efforts to maintain security.
He commended the security forces for their dedication and commitment to achieving tangible results in the fight against terrorism, safeguarding public safety, and supporting the communities in the areas where they operate.
The President also met with traditional elders from Hirshabelle to discuss their role in supporting the upcoming inclusive elections scheduled to take place in the region.
The discussions further addressed the advancement of Somalia’s democratization process and the strengthening of state institutions.
President Hassan Sheikh praised the elders for their constructive role in promoting peace, development, unity, and state-building within their communities.
Meanwhile, accompanied by the President of Hirshabelle State, Ali Abdullahi Hussein, the President toured the Hirshabelle House of Representatives headquarters, where construction work is nearing completion.
