Monday, June 8, 2026 {HMC} Turkey has intervened in the political situation in Somalia, holding talks with the opposition and the government to discuss the current conflict.
A high-ranking delegation from the Turkish government, led by the country’s Deputy Intelligence Chief, is holding talks with the opposition today, especially with members they have personally selected.
The opposition members will be heard from their side regarding the elections and issues they oppose the Federal Government.
The mediation delegation will also listen to the Federal Government, with plans to convene a joint meeting between the opposition and the government.
The meetings that Turkey is holding come at a time when clashes have occurred in recent days in Mogadishu between government forces and those supporting the opposition.
Other members of the international community, such as the United States and Britain, have approved Turkish mediation to end the ongoing conflict in Somalia’s political affairs.
