Friday, July 10, 2026 (HMC) – The Commander of the Somali National Army Ground Forces, Sahal Abdullahi Omar, today welcomed the Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, Metin Tokel, at Aden Adde International Airport upon his arrival in Somalia for an official visit.
The commander and his delegation were received with full military honors in accordance with official ceremonial protocol.
The visit reflects the deep brotherly ties and strategic partnership between Somalia and Türkiye, which serve as the foundation for broad cooperation in the fields of security and defense.
The Government of Türkiye has played a significant role in rebuilding, strengthening, and modernizing the Somali National Army, particularly through military training, capacity building, and enhanced defense cooperation.
Relations between the two countries continue to grow stronger, with both sides expanding collaboration on security and efforts to combat shared threats.
The visit is expected to further strengthen cooperation between the two armed forces, particularly in defense, military training, and the exchange of expertise. It is also anticipated to contribute to enhancing Somalia’s security, stability, and overall development.
