The Somali government issued a declaration of peace in the war in Mudug region

Thursday June 27, 2024 {HMC} – The federal government of Somalia issued an urgent statement on the conflict that broke out this morning in the Mudug region, especially in the western areas of the region.

The war between two tribal militias has called on the government to stop the conflict as soon as possible, and to give the parties a chance for peace and dialogue.

The Ministry of Interior, Federal and Reconciliation, which issued a statement, expressed its concern over the fighting between the fraternal clans in areas of Mudug region.

“The ministry is concerned about the war between the fraternal communities in the areas; Jiicboor, Saxo-Qurun and Meygaga, in Mudug region. We call on them to immediately end the hostilities and give way to peace and dialogue.”

The ministry also sent a request to traditional elders, religious scholars and the rest of the community, “We are asking the intelligent people to stand up for peace and play their role in ending the conflict.

The ministry also called on the authorities of Puntland and Galmudug to play their part and stand for a solution to the conflict.

“The Ministry of Interior, Federal and Reconciliation is ready to help in everything to find a solution to this conflict.”

In the central regions, there is a war between different communities, which have caused heavy losses, which have erupted in different parts of these regions.

However, these battles have continued, while operations against Al-Shabaab are still going on in Galgaduud and Mudug, which are in collaboration with the forces of the country’s army and the Mawisleyda.
