Wednesday 12 June 2024 {HMC} Asal Consulting, a professional services firm focused on sustainable development in Somalia and the Horn of Africa, has appointed Mohamed Abdirizak Mohamud as its new CEO. He succeeds Rahma Ahmed, who will transition to Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Mohamed Abdirizak brings over 23 years of experience in development work and a solid commitment to driving positive change. His background includes roles in international organizations and government, including as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Somalia.
Rahma Ahmed, founder and outgoing CEO, expressed confidence in the transition: “Mohamed’s appointment marks a new chapter for Asal. His wealth of experience and dedication to being in service of others and strengthening systems and structures align perfectly with Asal’s mission.”
Established in 2016 by Rahma Ahmed and Quman Akli, Asal Consulting focuses on research and public governance, particularly on locally-led climate action.
