Wednesday 26,March 2025 {HMC} Armed militants attacked the central police station in Bosaso on Wednesday, aiming to seize weapons recently captured by Puntland security forces. The assault led to a violent clash, resulting in the death of one attacker, according to local security sources.
Puntland security forces at the station successfully repelled the attackers, forcing them to retreat. To prevent further attempts, Puntland has reinforced the police station with additional troops.
The attack occurred while Puntland President Said Deni was in Bosaso, highlighting the ongoing security challenges in the region.
The attack follows a deadly confrontation in Garowe earlier this week, where three soldiers were killed and several others, including the Garowe airport commander, were wounded. The violence stemmed from a security operation targeting Puntland Security Forces (PSF) troops accused of transporting a hijacked bus within Puntland territory.
Security forces have since stepped up operations to stabilize the region and prevent further escalation.
