Wednesday 19,March 2025 {HMC} Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, and his Serbian counterpart, Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric, held a phone discussion on Tuesday to review and reinforce diplomatic and economic cooperation between the two nations, according to a statement from the Somali Embassy in Belgrade.
The two ministers exchanged views on global political developments, security concerns, and economic collaboration during the conversation. The discussion underscored the enduring ties between Somalia and Serbia, which have spanned 65 years.
“We will continue to bolster our shared ties and enhance cooperation in key sectors,” Fiqi said, reaffirming Somalia’s commitment to advancing its international partnerships, particularly with long-term allies.
Djuric commended Somalia’s diplomatic approach, particularly its neutral stance on global affairs, which has enabled the country to navigate complex international dynamics effectively. He also reiterated Serbia’s support for Somalia: “Somalia has always been a special partner to us, and we believe there are significant opportunities for collaboration.”
Both ministers agreed to foster deeper engagement through high-level exchanges and official visits. They pledged to explore new avenues of collaboration in economic development, security, and technology to benefit both nations.
