Thursday March 13, 2025 {HMC} Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre visited the National Army Hospital and Erdogan Hospital on Wednesday night to meet with soldiers and local army forces injured in the fight against the Al-Shabaab militant group.
During his visit, the Prime Minister met with the injured and their doctors, offering prayers for their swift recovery.
“The one who kills the Khawarij or is killed by them has won. As the Messenger of Allah said, they are a group that has misunderstood religion. We want the armed forces and local forces to have modern hospitals to rehabilitate them, as our country is in a difficult fight against groups that oppose peace and stability. Soon, your country and your people will be rewarded with peace,” said Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre.
The Prime Minister encouraged the troops to persevere and continue defending the country and eradicating terrorist groups, particularly Al-Shabaab and ISIS. He assured the soldiers that his government stands firmly behind them in their sacrifice for the nation, religion, and the people, as they fight to eliminate the terrorists who threaten the Somali nation.
Some of the wounded soldiers were recently brought to Mogadishu for treatment. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud welcomed the injured soldiers at Mogadishu airport earlier this week, showing solidarity and support.
This week, Somali army forces, with the support of international partners, killed nearly 100 Al-Shabaab militants in the Middle Shabelle region and Lower Shabelle region, including senior leaders. On Wednesday, the airstrikes targeted Farhan Osman Hassan, known as Jafar Karuur, responsible for Al-Shabaab’s explosive operations in Banadir and Lower Shabelle, and Ahmed Gumaar, the head of the group’s financial operations in Lower Shabelle.
The day before, a senior leader involved in coordinating Al-Shabaab’s combat vehicles in Middle Shabelle, along with dozens of militants, was also killed.
