“The food assistance is crucial for those forced to flee their homes due to the ongoing operations. We prioritize the most vulnerable, including mothers and children,” Yusuf said.
The medical supplies are expected to support displaced families critically, addressing urgent health concerns in the affected areas. Yasin Jilioow, a local elder, expressed gratitude to the federal government for the aid, emphasizing its impact on the displaced community.
“This donation will bring much-needed relief to those suffering, especially women and children,” Jilioow said.
Somali government forces, in collaboration with local militias and international partners, have intensified military operations against Al-Shabaab in the Middle Shabelle and Hiiraan regions. Recent offensives have targeted key locations, including Biyo Cadde, El Ali Ahmed, and Al-Kowthar, as part of a broader effort to weaken the militant group’s stronghold in Hirshabelle state.
The relief initiative underscores ongoing collaboration between government agencies, local leaders, and humanitarian organizations to deliver timely assistance to communities impacted by conflict and displacement.
