February 13, 2025 {HMC} Reports coming from the Bari region indicate that once again, airstrikes were carried out last night in the Calmiskaad mountain area, targeting ISIS militants.
The airstrikes specifically occurred in a locality named Shebaab, where ISIS militants were stationed, and are currently facing heavy pressure from Puntland forces.
A brief statement released by the Somali regional government of Puntland revealed that in these two airstrikes, up to 30 members of ISIS were killed, and military vehicles and supplies were destroyed.
The statement also mentioned that foreign fighters fighting alongside ISIS were among those killed, as per the press release by Puntland about last night’s airstrike in Bari region.
Furthermore, it was stated that the total number of ISIS militants killed in operations in Bari region exceeds 200, and efforts to intensify the operations will continue.
“Two airstrikes conducted last night in the Shebaab area of the Calmiskad mountains killed over 30 ISIS militants, mostly foreign fighters, while destroying the vehicle transporting their supplies. The operation is both aerial and ground-based,” the Puntland statement said.
The situation remains tense, and Puntland forces are closing in on the caves where ISIS militants are hiding in the mountains.
Additionally, the United States has been involved in these airstrikes, with its most recent operation carried out in the Calmiskaad area earlier this month, reportedly killing 14 ISIS militants, including high-ranking leaders who were sought after for their involvement in terror activities.
