Saturday 4,Jan,2025 {HMC} A locally mobilized clan militia, known as Ma’wisley, attacked an al-Shabab hideout in the Bulaburte district of Hiiraan region on Friday, local residents reported.
The assault occurred in the Adow Gurey area, where al-Shabab members had reportedly gathered in preparation for attacks against government troops and local forces.
Local sources claimed that several al-Shabab fighters were killed or wounded, though exact casualty figures have not been independently verified. The Ma’wisley militia stated they had seized control of the area and inflicted significant losses on the militants.
The Hirshabelle regional administration has not commented on the incident.
Al-Shabab, an al-Qaeda-affiliated group, has long targeted Somalia’s government and allied forces, making such operations critical to countering its presence in the region.
