Somalia Assumes Seat at the United Nations Security Council.

Thuesday 2, Jan 2025 {HMC} FM Ambassador Ahmed Mohamud Fiqi presided over a ceremony today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Mogadishu to commemorate Somalia’s official assumption of its seat at the United Nations Security Council and the start of its duties on the global platform.

The ceremony brought together FM Ambassador Ahmed Mohamud Fiqi, the Permanent Secretary, directors, and ministry staff.

In his remarks, FM Ambassador Ahmed Mohamud Fiqi underscored the historic significance of this milestone, the concerted efforts behind its achievement, and Somalia’s priority agenda for its term.

He expressed deep gratitude to Somalia’s leadership, led by His Excellency the President, and acknowledged the vital contributions of the nation’s delegations to the African Union in Addis Ababa and the United Nations in New York.

 

He also commended the ministry’s diplomats and staff for their dedication to advancing Somalia’s international standing.

This achievement marks a pivotal moment in Somalia’s global engagement, reinforcing its commitment to peace, security, and progress on the world stage.
