Cairo, December 23, 2024 {HMC} Foreign Minister, His Excellency Ambassador Ahmed Moallim Fiqi , held high-level discussions with His Excellency Mr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, in Cairo. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring avenues for mutual cooperation, with an emphasis on elevating ties to a strategic partnership.
Both sides also agreed to advance trade and economic collaboration through the Somali-Egyptian Forum, scheduled to take place in Cairo in January 2025.
During the discussions, Foreign Minister Ambassador Fiqi commended Egypt’s instrumental role in supporting Somalia’s state-building efforts and its unwavering commitment to safeguarding Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. He reaffirmed Somalia’s dedication to all agreements concluded with Egypt, underscoring the importance of continued collaboration for regional stability and development.
In response, His Excellency Dr. Badr Abdel Aty reiterated Egypt’s steadfast support for Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, in line with international law. He emphasized Egypt’s ongoing efforts to support Somalia’s government and institutions while fostering a stronger, enduring partnership between the two nations.
