Saturday 14,Dec, 2024 {HMC} The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) has today dispatched a substantial food aid package from Mogadishu, marking a significant contribution from the Chinese government to support the Somali people. The aid, consisting of 500 tons of food, is en route to the SSC Khaatumo Transitional Administration to assist vulnerable communities.
The food aid was loaded onto a boat at the Mogadishu Port and is set to be transported to the Bosaso Port. From there, it will be distributed to the areas under the SSC Khaatumo Transitional Administration, targeting those most in need.
Commissioner Mahmoud Ma’allin Abdulle of SoDMA highlighted the agency’s unwavering commitment to aiding the Somali community. “We stand ready to assist the Somali community in any way we can,” he affirmed.
Emphasizing the strategic importance of this aid, Commissioner Abdulle noted the agency’s proactive stance in implementing national leaders’ directives to mitigate the impacts of the anticipated La Nina drought. “We are ready to strengthen efforts to prevent the La Nina drought that is feared to hit our country,” he stated, expressing gratitude to the Chinese government for its generous support.
The commissioner praised the Chinese government for its continued support, acknowledging the critical role such international aid plays in bolstering SoDMA’s efforts to support the nation’s vulnerable populations.
