Repatriation of Somali Migrants Detained in Sudan.

Monday 9, Dec, 2024 {HMC}  -The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, under the leadership of H.E. Ambassador Ahmed Moallim Fiqi , has successfully facilitated the repatriation of 22 Somali citizens who were detained in Sudan for attempting irregular migration. These individuals, comprising 17 young men and 5 young women, had been detained in Dongola and Gadaref detention facilities for three months.

All 22 individuals arrived safely in Mogadishu today, marking another milestone in the Ministry’s unwavering efforts to protect the rights and dignity of Somali citizens abroad and combat human trafficking.

This successful operation was achieved through the dedicated efforts of the Presidential Special Envoy on Immigration, H.E. Ambassador Mariam Yassin HY ; the Director of Diaspora Affairs, Mr. Ibrahim Mohamud Guure; H.E. Jowhar Barqab, Women’s Chairperson of Banadir Regional Administration; and the Chairperson of the National Commission for Refugees and IDPs (NCRI), Mrs. Safia Hassan Mohamed.
