Monday 4,November, 2024 {HMC} Somali Deputy Minister of Education Ahmed Isman Ibrahim Daqare and Minister of State for Planning and International Cooperation Abdirashid Jire Qalinle resigned on Sunday, citing federal government planning to confront some regional administrations.
Minister Qalinle expressed his concerns over what he described as federal government discrimination against the Jubbaland, Puntland, and SSC Khatumo administrations. Deputy Minister Daqare echoed these sentiments, accusing the federal government of isolating these regions.
“I am convinced that the government is engaged in escalating violence in Jubbaland and inciting civil conflict to serve its own interests. After reflecting on my conscience, I have decided to resign from the post of Deputy Minister for Education, Heritage, and Higher Education,” Daqare stated.
Both ministers from Jubbaland State resigned amid escalating political tension between Somalia’s federal government and the administrations of Jubbaland and Puntland.
The dispute has intensified due to disagreements over the election process, with Jubbaland and Puntland continuing to boycott recent National Consultative Council meetings held in Mogadishu.
