QC inaugurates school, delivers supplies in Somalia.

Tuesday 10, Sep 2024 {HMC} Qatar Charity (QC), with the support of philanthropists in Qatar, inaugurated the ‘Aisha bint Jassim Al-Muftah’ school in the Bay Region of Somalia’s South-West State.

It also provided 1,800 students, including many orphans and children from underprivileged families with school bags and supplies, for the beginning of the 2024-25 academic year.

This project is part of QC’s efforts in Somalia to expand educational opportunities, create a conducive learning environment, and pave the way for a brighter future for Somali children. The newly inaugurated school can accommodate 200 male and female students. The school’s opening coincides with QC’s recently launched campaign “Prioritising their Education”.

The school’s inauguration ceremony was attended by several Somali officials, including Abdifatah Sheikh Issack, Deputy Minister of Education of South-West State of Somalia; Bare Aden, Deputy of Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs of South-West State of Somalia; Adam Hassan, Deputy Governor of the Bay Region, and Abdifatah Adam Mo’allim, director of QC’s Office in Somalia.

In his speech at the ceremony, Issack, said: “Qatar Charity sets a commendable example in supporting education through its pioneering efforts in constructing and developing schools and providing essential support to students.”

Hassan praised the contributions of donors and QC across various humanitarian sectors. “Qatar Charity significantly improves the lives of Bay Region residents through its diverse projects, and we are grateful for this collaboration that enhances the quality of life for our citizens.

Adam said: “We believe that investing in education is the key to a better future. Our goal is to improve educational conditions and provide equal opportunities for children in Somalia.”
