Talaado 09 julay 2024 {HMC} Somali National Army troops, supported by local militia, have destroyed several Al-Shabaab hideouts in the Hiiraan region’s Buula Burte district, the government announced.
The joint forces targeted areas in Beera Yabaal, north of Buula Burte, where Al-Shabaab members were reportedly gathering. The operations resulted in the obliteration of multiple sites used by the militant group.
Major Naqiib Abdullaahi Hersi, Commander of the 8th Battalion of the 18th Brigade of Gorgor, and Lieutenant Colonel Cali Cadde, Commander of the 291st Battalion of the 29th Brigade of Daljir, led the successful operation. “A number of sites where Al-Shabaab was hiding in Beera Yabaal locality, in the Buula Burte district in the Hiiraan region, have been obliterated,” the government stated.
The officers leading the operation emphasized their commitment to continuing such operations to thwart future Al-Shabaab attacks and plots.
