“This issue of ending drug abuse is not a joke, it is government policy.”
Defence CS Aden Duale has insisted that drug abuse, consumption of illicit alcohol and shisha smoking must all be eradicated.
Speaking in Kwale on Saturday, the CS said that the fight against drug abuse is not a joke.
He noted that it is now part of government policy and local leaders should work with the National Administration officials and the police to see that it is stopped.
The Defence CS added that the move is aimed at saving the future generation of this country.
“We have a President and a Deputy President who say that we must fight the drug menace, illicit alcohol and shisha. They are not Muslims, they are Christians but what they say is what our religion says,” Duale said.
“I want Kwale leaders to work with government officers, the police, county commissioner and deputy county commissioners. This issue of ending drug abuse is not a joke, it is now government policy because these our children are the leaders of the future.”
Duale on Saturday attended the Grand International Quran Recitation competition at Serani Grounds, Mombasa.
The competition had representatives from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, and Somalia.
The CS has been very vocal over the ban of Shisha in the country.
A few weeks ago, the CS said that the National Authority for the Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse should continue with the raid, noting that shisha is illegal.
“Shisha addicts must face the law, as it has been illegal in Kenya since 2017,” Duale said on his X social media platform.
The Defence CS highlighted that the law enforcement agents must continue to raid shisha dens.
