Prime Minister Barre visits intelligence Headquarters following deadly attack in Mogadishu

Sunday 17,March,2024 {HMC} Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre inspected the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) Headquarters in Mogadishu on Saturday, a day after President Mohamud’s inspection following the al-Shabab attack on the SYL Hotel.

The interim Minister of Internal Security, the Police Commissioner, and the Director of NISA briefed the Prime Minister on the country’s security situation, particularly the latest attack at the hotel near the Presidential Palace.

Prime Minister Barre urged the security agencies to remain vigilant and ensure the safety of the nation, staying alert to al-Shabab attacks aimed at jeopardizing the safety of the Somali people.

He also emphasized the importance of eradicating the Al-Shabaab terrorists and increasing cooperation between the army and the civilian population.

According to the police, at least three government soldiers were killed, and 27 others, including 18 civilians and three lawmakers, were wounded in the hours-long siege at the SYL Hotel, which is popular among government officials.
