Somali Police Unveil Devastating Impact of SYL Hotel Attack:

Friday 15 March, 2024 {HMC} At least three soldiers were killed and 27 others were injured in the attack on the SYL hotel in Mogadishu, according to the Somali police spokesman.

Police spokesman, Major General Qasim Ahmed Roble said that five Al-Shabaab men were killed, who entered the SYL hotel and were fighting.

The spokesman said that the security forces succeeded in preventing the plan of the Al-Shabaab gunmen, which was to kill the people inside the hotel, including government officials and civilians.

Qasim Ahmed Roble said 9 of the injured were security forces, he also said 4 of the injured were parliamentarians and government spokesman Farhan Mohamed Jimale, who had minor injuries.

He stated that an investigation is currently underway on how it was possible for a vehicle loaded with explosives and al-Shabaab gunmen to pass through the heavily guarded checkpoints.
