Award-winning journalist arrested in Somalia – reports

Monday 19 Feb-2024 {HMC} Journalist Jamal Mohamed Osman of Channel 4 international television in the UK, was deported from Garowe after he landed yesterday.

The security agencies of Puntland have been asking questions since yesterday, and finally today he was ordered to go back to Ethiopia, where he was recently.

Although he was repatriated from Garowe, the reporter first received permission from the Ministry of Information of Puntland to come to Garowe, presenting his plan.

The reporter wanted to report on Somali pirates, as these days there have been renewed attacks by pirates taking hostages on ships and boats using the coast of Puntland.

This is the second time journalist Jamal Osman has been deported from Somalia. He was deported from Mogadishu in December 2022.

He is accused of being a pro-Alshabaab journalist, and he has repeatedly supported the Alshabaab group on social media.

He traveled to Jilib several times believing that Al-Shabaab will rule the country.
