African Union discussed the crisis between Somalia and Ethiopia.

Sunday, 18-Feb-2024-{HMC} The summit of the African Union has been concluded in Addis Ababa, and the conclusion of the report was that the issues discussed included the conflict between Somalia and Ethiopia.

 

The African Union has expressed concern over the tension between the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Federal Republic of Somalia, after the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Ethiopia and the northern region of Somalia (Somaliland) on January 1, 2024.

 

It was also written in the statement, “The Council reaffirms its firm commitment and support for the preservation of the unity, territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty of all member states, including those of the Federal Republic of Somalia and the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

 

The African Union “calls on the two countries to calm the tension and have a meaningful dialogue towards a peaceful solution to the issue”.
